About "Make It!"

In response to the workforce shortages of the late 90's, the Manufacturing Educators Coalition (MEC) has launched "Make It!", a statewide campaign designed to raise awareness of the manufacturing technology industry and attract more people to manufacturing technology careers.

"Make It!" conveys two messages: People in this industry make things, and they can make a great career for themselves.

Some people have asked, "Is there really a need for workers?" The answer is absolutely. Over the next 5-10 years, thousands of employees will retire...many more than the number of people projected to graduate from manufacturing technology programs.

In an effort to demonstrate the many rewarding, high-paying careers available, "Make It!" arranges classroom speakers, facility tours, career fair exhibitors, job shadows, apprenticeships and a variety of other career-related activities.

"Make It!" is proud to serve as a resource for students, parents, educators, job seekers and businesses, all of whom have a stake in the success of manufacturing technology in Minnesota.
