Connect with schools

Enrollment in manufacturing technology programs is down 25 percent. Meanwhile, enrollment in other hands-on programs, such as construction and automotive, is full.

Why aren't students choosing the high-tech, high-paying jobs our industry has to offer? Because they simply don't know they exist...yet.

Below are a few ways your company can connect with students. Please let us know if you would be interested in any or all of the following. Call 763-566-5696.

Hosting a tour of our company
Teachers are always looking for ways to show students the "real world." A tour allows students to see employees and machines in action and better understand modern manufacturing.

Talking to a class about our company
What kinds of jobs are out there? What kinds of skills do kids need? To help you answer these and other questions, we've put together speaker "kits," complete with discussion suggestions, mini experiments and give-a-ways that you can use in K-12 math, science and industrial arts classrooms.

Participating in a career awareness fair
You don't have to be hiring to participate in a career fair. Most high school career fairs today are more about career exploration. Show them what makes your company a great place to work!

Hiring a youth apprentice
A youth apprenticeship is a formal system of employee training agreed upon by an employer and school. Students perform entry-level tasks that count for high school and/or post-secondary credit under the supervision of a company mentor. Read more about MTM's youth apprenticeship program.

Helping a school implement a robotics program
Say the word "robot" and students' ears perk up. Robotics programs dramatically increase interest in high school technical education programs -- key to ensuring a skilled future workforce. You can partner with a school to build a robot by lending shop space and a helping hand. Read more about robotics programs in  the Midwest.

Participating on the "Make It!" Board
If your company is concerned about our industry's future workforce, join others in taking action through the "Make It!" Board.
